Cosmos Quartet

The Cosmos Quartet was established in 2014 from the friendship and mutual interests of four young Spanish musicians. Each of them has had an international trajectory as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. Its aim is that of discovering and deepening the extensive and fascinating repertoire for string quartet.

They have received coaching from professors such as Alfred Brendel, Rainer Schmidt, Johannes Meissl, Hatto Beyerle, Miguel da Silva, Oliver Wille, Jonathan Brown, Anita Mitterer, Krzysztof Chorzelski, Patrik Jüdt and Quartetto di Cremona, among others.

Despite the fact that it is a recently formed ensemble, the Cosmos Quartet has already gained an international career winning recently the First Prize at the 2018 Competition Irene Steels - Wilsing Foundation in Heidelberg, the Third Prize at the International Joseph Joachim Chamber Music Competition 2019 in Weimar, the 13th Premi BBVA de Música de Cambra Montserrat Alavedra and the Third Prize at the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition, among others.

They have played at venues such as the Heidelberger Streichquartettfest 2019 in Heidelberg, festival Emergents at L’Auditori de Barcelona, the Quincena Musical in San Sebastián, the Schubertíada de Vilabertran, the Gent Festival van Vlaanderen in Belgium, Festival Música Sur in Motril, Festival de Monteleón in León, East Neuk Festival in Edinburgh, and since the beginning they have been invited at venues like Auditori Miquel Delibes in Valladolid, Fundación Juan March in Madrid, the Wigmore Hall in London and the ORF Kulturhaus of Vienna.

Currently they are former members at European Chamber Music Academy ECMA held by Hatto Beyerle and Johannes Meissl. Also, since October 2018, they are in a Master degree in the University of Hannover with professor Oliver Wille.

Among the upcoming projects we stand out the concert debut at the Bozar in Brussels and the Konzerthaaus in Berlin, a collaboration with the cellist Lluís Claret playing Schubert Quintet at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona and Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, and a recording project in collaboration with WDR Köln.

The quartet is based in Barcelona and plays four instruments builded specially for them from the catalan wellknown luthier David Bagué.
