BIOGRAPHY

Daniel Ottensamer is one of the most important clarinetists in the world. He is a prizewinner of the most prestigious international competitions. As a soloist he is regularly invited to perform with renowned orchestras, among them the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Cologne Radio Orchestra, the Folkwand Chamber Orchestra Essen, the Radio-Symphony Orchestra Vienna, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Odense Symphony Orchestra, and with conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Gustavo Dudamel, Adam Fischer o Ivor Bolton, among others. He has toured extensively throughout Asia, the United States and Europe.

He has been principal clarinetist at the Vienna Philharmonic since 2009, where he debuted as a soloist in 2014 with the performance of Carl Nielsen's Clarinet Concerto. He is also the first clarinet soloist at the Vienna State Opera.

As a chamber musician he has worked together with important musicians such as Angelika Kirchschlager, Barbara Bonney, Thomas Hampson, Bernarda Fink, Julian Rachlin, Clemens Hagen, Stefan Vladar. He has collaborated with the Steude and Aron Quartets, and as a member with the chamber music groups The Clarinotts, The Philharmonics and the Baole-Quintet.
