Born in 1960, the Argentine choreographer, resident in Madrid since 1989, is the true promoter and creative soul of Aracaladanza, a company he founded in 1995 after winning the Excellent Choreographer award at the VIII Madrid Choreographic Contest.
With an eclectic background in the most prestigious study centers in Buenos Aires, Enrique Cabrera was part of the most important contemporary dance companies in Argentina. His particular vision of creation and interest in attracting younger audiences, has allowed him to bring together a solid artistic team with which he shares a passion for dance and the use of elements and scenographic objects, which have become his “ personal brand ”.
A pioneer in the conception of dance performances for family audiences, his work has attracted attention in Europe, America and Asia, where he has become a creative reference and a leader in promoting new audiences for the performing arts.
His stage works have been co-produced by the most prestigious European and Asian theaters, have been seen by thousands of spectators and have been well received by critics, as well as major awards.
In addition to his work as artistic director and choreographer of Aracaladanza, he has been the stage director of some musical shows, including those for the Palau de la Música and L'Auditori. He was the winner of the Dance Choreography Award "Antonio Ruiz Soler" 2005, awarded by the City of Madrid for his work ¡Nada…Nada!
Enrique Cabrera has offered courses and lectures at several universities, created choreographies for dance agencies and British companies, shared experiences with international choreographers, educators, writers, painters and filmmakers, has been part of various dance juries and has offered masterclasses in UK universities and schools of dramatic art and dance.
