Born in Istanbul, tenor Ilker Arcayürek, who grew up in Vienna, has become one of the most exciting and versatile vocalists of recent years.
His most notable concerts include Bruckner's Mass in F minor with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and under the baton of Mariss Jansons, the Liszt's Faust Symphony premieres with the National Orchestra of Belgium and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, and concerts at the Wiener Konzerthaus with the Wiener Kammerorchester, the Arnold Schoenberg Chor and the Tonkünstler-Orchester.
On the opera stage, this season he plays the roles of Ariel, Pater Ecstaticus, in the play Szenen aus Goethes Faust (Scenes from Goethe's Faust) by Schumann for the Montpellier National Opera under the baton of Philippe Herreweghe.
Apart from his commitment to the symphonic and operatic repertoire, Arcayürek is passionate about lied. He has worked with pianists such as Simon Lepper, Hartmut Höll, Ammiel Bushakevitz, Daniel Heide and Wolfram Rieger. In January 2021 an album of his latest recital will be released with all of Schubert’s songs titled Path of Life in collaboration with Simon Lepper.
