Iván Plaus

At the age of 17, Iván Plaus is one of the most outstanding young musical promises of the trombone, as reflected in the numerous awards won in various national and international competitions. Although he currently lives in Valencia, Iván was born in Ávila, the city where he began his music studies.

His mentor is Christian Lindberg, considered the best metal wind performer in history. He is currently studying with Dani Perpinyà at the Brass Academy in Alicante and with Rafa Tortajada at the Conservatory of Valencia, and combines it with his highschool studies.

He has performed as a soloist in Spain as well as in Russia, Italy, Germany, Portugal and Argentina. Some highlights are his participation in the Schleswig-Holstein Festivals and the Spivakov Foundation in Moscow. Among the competitions in which he has participated there are the Gnessin School in Moscow, Intercentres-Meloman and the competition of the Spanish Trombonists Association. He has also been selected to be part of the Youth Orchestra of the Royal Concertgebauw in Amsterdam and the Junior Orchestra of the Verbier Festival in Switzerland. He plays an American Shires trombone, model Joe Alessi.
