The former bass trombonist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (2004-2017), burst onto the international scene when in 2016 he was part of the orchestra and conducted it in a concert that R. Ticciati canceled. Described as a "sensational debut" (Abendzeitung, Munich), he was immediately invited again.
Bastian has worked as assistant director of M. Jansons, V. Jurowski, and D. Harding, as well as he has received masterclasses from B. Haitink, J. Panula, and D. Zinman. He was awarded with the prestigious Neeme Järvi Award at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy in 2016, and was the principal conductor of the Abaco-Orchester at the University of Munich from 2011 to 2018.
Recent and imminent successes as a guest conductor, which is developing rapidly, include debuts with orchestras such as the Gstaad Festival Orchestra, the Münchener Kammerorchester, the Musikkollegium Winterthur, the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Basel Symphony Orchestra or the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra.
