Lorenzo Ferrándiz
BIOGRAPHY
He began his career as a conductor in 2001, after a remarkable career as a percussionist, and after playing for two decades with the prestigious Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam. He is currently the director of the ensemble CrossingLines and principal guest conductor of the Ensemble News Babylon, with whom he has premiered numerous works and performed concerts throughout Europe and South America.
He has recently recorded a monographic CD by the composer Benet Casablancas (Naxos), with an excellent reception from specialist critics. He has conducted the Orchestra of Extremadura, the Orchestra of Córdoba, the Orchestra of the ESMUC, as well as various chamber groups.
In this season of L'Aplitori's Sampler Series he will direct the Barcelona Ensemble and Frames Percussion at the premiere of the play White by Pablo Carrascosa Llopis. He will soon conduct the Orquestra Ciudad de Granada and will be the assistant director of the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
