He studied music at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg, where he studied singing with M. Hummel and choir conducting with J. Straube. To complete his training, he also participated in master classes with singers M. Honig and P. Nelson. For several years, he has been artistically accompanied by T. Lichdi.
Martin Platz is a member of the ensemble of the Nuremberg National Theater Opera, with whom he has already played various roles as Belmonte in The Abduction from the Seraglio of Mozart, Tamino a The magic flute or Don Ottavio a Don Giovanni. In 2018 he sang the role of Telemachus with great success in Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria of Monteverdi.
In the field of oratorios, he has performed such important works as Vespro della Beata Vergine of Monteverdi, St. Matthew and St. John's passions and Bach's Mass in B minor, but also The Messiah by Händel and Elias by Mendelssohn. He usually gives concerts in Germany and the neighboring countries, and often works with such prestigious conductors as C. Hogwood, B. Labadie, H. Albrecht, or P. Agnew, among others.
Since 2007, Platz has been teaching at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg as a vocal teacher.
