Ramón Ortega Quero
Winner of the ECHO Prize twice and the Munich ARD Prize in 2007, Ramón Ortega Quero is recognized worldwide as one of the best oboists of his generation.
He is principal oboe of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, a position he combined in 2018 with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Thus, he has worked with the most renowned directors, such as Riccardo Muti, Herbert Blomstedt, Sir Colin Davies, John Eliot Gardiner, Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Bernhard Haitink, among others.
His concert activity is very intense, he has been invited as a soloist by orchestras such as the MDR Symphony, the NDR Radiophilharmonie in Hanover, the Basel Symphony, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra, Trondheim Soloists or the São Paulo Symphony. He maintains a close relationship with formations such as the Kammerakademie Potsdam, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the Prague Philharmonic.
As a chamber musician, he has shared stage with important musicians such as Mitsuko Uchida, Elena Bashkirova, Janine Jansen, Guy Braunstein and Tabea Zimmermann, among many others. He has played with them in Frankfurt, Berlin, Hanover, Valencia, Cologne and Vancouver, and at international festivals such as Gstaad, Jerusalem, Heidelberger Frühling, the Lucerne Festival, the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the Rheingau Musikfestival.
