He studied flute and solfeggio at the Isaac Albéniz Conservatory in Girona. He then went to Taller de Música de Banyoles to learn drums, saxophone and combo. He later moved to Taller de Músics in Barcelona, specializing in combos, musical language and harmony. At the ESMUC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya) he acquired a master's degree in jazz drums (2007).
The musician from Banyoles has participated in groups such as the Duo Duot (with saxophonist Albert Cirera), Sindicat Ornette and Agustí Fernández or the ensembles Free Art Ensemble and Projecte Uno. He has worked with musicians such as Jaume Llombart, Enrique Oliver, Ernesto Aurignac, Julián Sánchez, Seamus Blake, Dave Kikoski, Esperanza Spalding, Giulia Valle, Guillem Klein, Bob Mintzer, Greg Ward, Perico Sambeat, Martirio, Carme Canela, Jordi Rossy, Mats Gustafsson, Rene Hart, Bill McHenry.
In 2014 he was awarded musician of the year, record of the year (for Pandora ) and group of the year (Ramon Prats Quartet) by the AMJM (Association of Jazz and Modern Music Musicians of Catalonia). He has performed at international jazz festivals in Barcelona, Brussels (Belgium), Quito (Ecuador), Guayaquil (Ecuador), Barquisimeto (Venezuela), Sardinia (Italy), Gibraltar, Paris, Berlin, Madrid, Valencia, Getxo, Menorca, Zarautz and Vigo.
Pandora (trumpet, cello, double bass and drums) is his most personal project where Prats proposes an instant construction in ellipsis, an organic advance in which melodic and rhythmic intensity give off textures. This cello quartet was twice awarded as group of the year and album of the year 2014.
