PETERIS VASKS: String Quartet n. 6 (2020) 25 min. - National premiere
Programmatic titles and references to natural processes are very common in the work of Pēteris Vasks, as well as the problematic interaction between the human species and the rest of nature, a topic of rabid topicality. Violinist and double bassist, Vasks has recently focused on compositions for string groups, such as this one we can hear for the first time. The string quartet n. 6 collects the composer's experiences in four movements dealing with farewell, remembrance, departure, and reunion.
